Delve Major Update - 2
Delve » Devlog
I managed my time a bit better during this sprint, and I collaborated with my team members quite a lot. We worked on developing a lot of new systems in the game, as well as completely overhauling the look. We started working on the first level and implementing concepts of the initial game world idea into the build.
Some major things that I learned during this project's first development phase are:
- Communicating and collaborating with team members as early and often as possible helps keep the development process running smoothly.
- Finding enjoyment in smaller tasks is helpful for keeping morale in the project during its development.
- Proper level design is integral to the immersion that a player feels within a game.
- Inventory and resource systems work well with upgrade systems. Those all can also balance well with the overall movement, combat, and exploration systems, which helps the game feel more balanced overall.
- Creating new mechanical systems is important, but preventing and fixing technical debt is crucial to the build's success.
Overall it was a great sprint for developing new mechanical processes within the game, but I need to improve at helping find/fix the technical debt within the build.
This phase was launched to itch.io on 10/13/2024.
